Brain cancer is the abnormal growth of cells in the tissues of the brain. Brain tumours can be either benign (non cancerous) or malignant (cancerous). Benign tumours may cause problems due to their size within the skull, and often pressing against the brain or cranial nerves. Malignant tumours, serious and often life threatening, can grow quickly and invade healthy brain tissue, or spread to other parts of the central nervous system.
Macquarie University Hospital is home to many leading Brain Cancer specialists.
