Professor John Cartmill is the Professor of Surgery at the Australian School of Advanced Medicine, Macquarie University and Chairman of Macquarie GI. He has been instrumental in the development of Macquarie University Hospital. A colorectal surgeon with training in the Cleveland Clinic, he has interests in provision of innovative new technologies, improved health care delivery, and enhancing medical communication and teaching.

Professor Tony Eyers is a colorectal surgeon at Macquarie University Hospital and has been a VMO at Sydney’s Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for more than 25 years. He is the Professor of Ethics at the Australian School of Advanced Medicine, Macquarie University. In addition to his provision of excellence in clinical care, special interests include bioethics, computing in medicine, and contributing to health care delivery projects from a local to federal level. He is the College’s representative to the NSW Medical Council and chairs the ethics sub-committee of the Sydney South West Area Health Service.

Dr Anil Keshava is a colorectal surgeon at Concord Hospital Sydney and Macquarie University Hospital. He is a leader in laparoscopic colorectal surgery, and a fellow and examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Dr Keshava has had extensive local (with Masters Degree in Sydney) and international (Scotland, Hong Kong and Japan) training and is committed to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research. He has given presentations locally and internationally and also published on minimally invasive approaches to colorectal cancer.

Dr Matt Rickard is a colorectal surgeon at Macquarie University Hospital and Concord Hospital with extensive experience in advanced colorectal surgical techniques, colorectal cancer, laparoscopic colorectal surgery, inflammatory bowel disease, anorectal physiology, anorectal ultrasound and surgical epidemiology. Following graduation from the University of Sydney, he undertook further surgical training locally (with Master’s degree) and internationally. He is on the Australasian Training Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery and is treasurer and member of the Section of Colon and Rectal Surgery of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

Associate Professor Alice Lee is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist, Clinical Associate Professor at Macquarie University and currently leads the Liver Services at Concord and Canterbury Hospitals, where she is a senior staff member. A graduate from the University of Sydney, A/Prof Lee completed a PhD in liver disease (Sydney University) and remains active in teaching and clinical research. In addition to providing general gastroenterology services, she has extensive experience in viral hepatitis, and the clinical application of non-invasive liver fibrosis measures including fibroscan.

Dr Eric Lee is a Consultant Gastroenterologist based at Macquarie University Hospital and Westmead Hospital with expertise in Interventional Endoscopy (gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, and endoscopic ultrasound). He completed a Fellowship in Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy with the world-renowned Therapeutic Endoscopy Group (University of Toronto, Canada.) Dr Lee is active in research and teaching, with publications and presentations at national and international meetings.

Associate Professor Rupert W Leong is a consultant gastroenterologist and Associate Professor of Medicine at The University of New South Wales and Macquarie University. He is the current director of Endoscopy and senior staff specialist at Concord Hospital, former director of gastroenterology at Bankstown where he is currently a staff specialist. A/Prof Leong trained in Perth with further training in Hong Kong and his expertise includes interventional endoscopy and management of inflammatory bowel disease. He publishes widely, fosters novel research, serves to educate (at all levels) and is a section editor for the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
