Dr Arianayagam is a urologist specialising in urologic oncology.  Dr Arianayagam is trained in the treatment of all urologic malignancies and has a special interest in prostate, kidney and bladder cancer. He is fully trained in robotic, laparoscopic and open surgery and also treats patients with general urological problems. His extensive expertise in urological cancer and robotic surgery, as well as comprehensive cancer care, bring important skills to Macquarie University Hospital.

Dr Arianayagam graduated from Sydney University and completed urology training in NSW. He then undertook a two-year Urologic oncology fellowship at the University of Miami, US, and is a fellow of the Society of Urologic Oncology. His research interests include the role of stem cells in renal regeneration as well as clinical outcomes research. In addition to operating at Macquarie University Hospital, he has a public appointment at Nepean Public Hospital.

Dr Revathy Arulventhan MBBS FRACP has been a physician in Nuclear Medicine for the last 15 years. She was a Staff Specialist at St. Vincents Hospital and then became a full time private practitioner  in 2003. She completed her under-graduate training at Concord & Westmead hospitals and the post-graduate specialist training at Royal Prince Alfred, Westmead and St. Vincents hospitals. She subsequently undertook her PET/CT training at Westmead hospital. Dr Arulventhan has wide experience in Nuclear Cardiology and worked at dedicated Cardiology practices. Her areas of interest include research, teaching, nuclear cardiology, CT coronary angiogram, Quality Assurance and PET/ CT imaging.

Dr Arulventhan is a very experienced Nuclear Physician and her goal is to promote an innovative and evidence based approach to nuclear imaging at Macquarie Medical Imaging with an aim to provide the highest standard of imaging care possible.

Dr Hema Arvind completed her postgraduate training in Ophthalmology in India, and underwent post specialist training in Glaucoma at Sankara Nethralaya, one of the largest eye hospitals in India, then at the Sydney Eye Hospital. She worked as a consultant in India before moving to Australia and was awarded fellowship of the RANZCO. Her specific interests include Glaucoma, Cataract and Visual Electrophysiology. She is an active researcher, with several scientific publications and a PhD. She is clinical senior lecturer at the Macquarie University.

Dr Nazih Assaad completed his medical degrees and graduated from the University of Sydney with honours in 1993. His early postgraduate training was at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital followed by training and research in Neurosurgery at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. His advanced Neurosurgery training included posts at Westmead, John Hunter and Royal North Shore Hospitals. During this time he underwent subspecialty training in Cerebrovascular Neurosurgery under the mentorship of Professor Michael Morgan.

Dr Assaad is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a Member of the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia, AANS/CNS Cerebrovascular Section and the American Heart and Stroke Associations.
 Dr Assaad’s subspecialty interests include the treatment of complex aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, dural fistulas, cavernomas as well as stroke prevention surgery including brain bypass surgery and carotid surgery. He also has interests in brain tumours, spinal surgery and trigeminal neuralgia surgery.

Associate Professor Bala specialises in cataract, cornea and refractive surgery as well as in glaucoma surgery, having comprehensive experience in the anterior segment of the eye. He graduated from the University of Sydney with honours. He completed an additional year of research for which he was awarded a Bachelor of Science (Med) (honours). 

Associate Professor Bala completed his general ophthalmic training at Sydney Eye Hospital and has a PhD in ophthalmology. He completed further subspecialty training in Australia and overseas.

Associate Professor Bala completed a glaucoma fellowship with Associate Professor Paul Healy at Westmead Hospital. He also completed a cornea fellowship with Dr Gerrit Melles in Holland, and a refractive fellowship with Dr Ioannis Aslanides in Greece. He has a number of research publications and is a senior clinical lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Macquarie University. He operates at Epping Day Surgery and performs refractive laser surgery at Personaleyes in Paramatta and at the York Street Clinic. Associate Professor Bala is fluent in English, Tamil and Hindi.
